UNDERSTANDING THE PROCESS
Whether it’s an anniversary, wedding, funeral or baby shower, I know just how special a bunch of flowers can be. Here I will explain some of my process and what you can expect when you book with me, so that you can be sure you are choosing the right floral preservation artist for you.
The page below explains the process, right from the beginning, step-by-step. You can then be confident that your flowers will be safe and cared for, and that the art you receive is a special and unique reminder of your important day.
1.
Complete the enquiry form. This will allow me to confirm availability and if I am able to take on your flowers.
We can chat via email and I can answer any questions you may have.
2.
Pay your deposit to secure your date.
Your confirmation email will provide the link & password to a Client Space - here you can complete your booking form and get flower care information.
5.
When your flowers come out of the press you will be notified that they have entered the design phase. I will confirm your chosen frame(s) and any preferences/inclusions you may have noted in your booking form. You will be sent a draft design based on this. You can be as involved or uninvolved in this design phase as you wish. Some clients prefer to just let the magic happen!
6.
When you have confirmed you are happy with the draft, your flowers will be fixed in the frame. The finished piece(s) of art are then carefully cleaned, packaged (all recycled or eco-friendly!) and posted back to you via Royal Mail Special Delivery. Hand delivery is made to the local area.
The whole process usually takes in excess of 6 months, increasing during busy periods.
3.
Your flowers can either be posted or dropped off to me near Ashford, Kent. This needs to be done as soon after your event as possible.
My address and delivery information are provided on the Client Space.
4.
Using traditional methods, and homemade flower presses, your flowers will be pressed over approximately 12-16 weeks. Only the amount of flowers necessary for your chosen size or number of frames will be pressed, the remainder will be composted unless you have booked additional preservation/air drying.

FAQs
-
The initial process can take 12-16 weeks, but this is only the time it takes for your flowers to be pressed and preserved. If your flowers are arriving with me during the busier summer months then it may take around 6 months or more before your frame is ready to be delivered back to you. I will keep in contact with you to discuss any updates or changes to your order, and you are welcome to contact me at any time via email.
-
Yes. I will return any pressed petals, flowers or foliage that are not used in the frame. If you send your bouquet with ribbon or pins, these will also be returned. Any notes found in arrangements will be kept safe and returned.
-
For memorial or occasion flowers: the size and number of frames you can have will depend on the size of the arrangement - this can be discussed when you book.
For wedding flowers: If I require more than your main wedding bouquet, I will let you know via email. Some larger frames/orders require additional flowers such as a bridesmaid bouquet or table arrangement.
Any unusable stems or excess flowers that do not need to be pressed for the size of your frame are disposed of or composted.
You can request that any leftover fresh flowers are air dried or pressed, however this will incur a charge.
-
Absolutely. Wedding certificates, photographs, stationary, note cards, ribbon, lace, order of service. All look lovely surrounded by flowers!
-
Your flowers, especially white blooms, may experience discolouration during the preservation process. Some flowers are known for not holding their colour or drying yellow (Lisianthus, for example) or red flowers often change to a dark maroon. I change the paper within the flower presses regularly and control the humidity and temperature levels where the presses are stored to facilitate the best possible results - I can’t change nature, however.
I do not colour correct or use synthetic agents to enhance any of the dried flowers, I prefer to work with the natural beauty of your flowers. Over time, the colours may continue to fade and age within the frames. To reduce this, keep them in a cool space, out of direct sunlight or high humidity.
